General Rules 1. Be Respectful. Follow the golden rule and treat others how you want to be treated. 2. Activity. We are a more laidback site for busy individuals and so we go at our pace, however if you are going to be gone longer than a month then please notify us in the LOA board, located in the bulletin board. It will save your account from deletion should we have an activity check while you're gone. 3. No Begging. If you want to be a part of the staff, begging is a good way to ensure that you NEVER become one. If I feel we need more staff I will post a thread looking for some or ask you directly if I feel you would be an asset to have as a staff member. Mentioning it once or twice that you’d like to help out is all good, but never PM me or any other staff member asking to be staff or you will go on a list of people who will never attain a staff position. If you want a certain character position, begging is yet again a sure way to ensure you never get it. 4. Multiple Accounts. NOT ALLOWED. One account per person. All of your characters should be on ONE account. 5. Display Names. You have one free Display Name change after joining. After you use that, you must purchase name changes from the site shop. This is in place because you are recorded in many threads, and every time you change your name, a mod must go through and change your name everywhere you are recorded. This is to cut down on our workload as well as to prevent name confusion with people changing their names every week or some such nonsense. 6. Inappropriate Content. It should be obvious, but do not post any images or links to anything of a sexual nature, or anything that depicts graphic violence. Beyond this, this site is targeted more towards a mature audience, and so various topics, such as religion or politics, may come up on occasion. We encourage mature discussions, and if you don't feel you can handle such things then either don't participate in them or don't join. If conversation devolves into argument it will be quickly put to an end by a staff member, however. 7. Events. Here at UW there is a staff account called Event. As well as posting all the OOC events the site will have such as advertising contests and posting contests, occasionally this account will post an IC Event, such as an illness spreading through the Gangs or a major weather disaster such as a tornado or blizzard happening. Player Characters will be randomized to see if and how they are affected by these events, and while no one will ever have their character killed in these events, they may be injured or fall ill and require medical attention, or they WILL die. You will have a time limit in which you must have a thread with a Healer if your cat is affected, and if you don't start the thread in that time, your character will die. By joining the site, you agree to this condition.8. WIP Bios. You may only post ONE WIP bio at a time. This is so the character creation board is not cluttered up with half finished cats constantly. You may post as many FINISHED bios as you want, however.

Posting Rules 1. No Thread Limit. You can be in as many threads as you feel you can handle, just don’t spread yourself too thin, make sure you can keep up with them all. If you can't post at least once a week in all your threads, you probably have too many. It can be very frustrating to wait over a week for someone to post for you. 2. OOC Posting. Anything that is not in character belongs in the OOC boards or the chat box. Little OOC notes at the bottom of RP posts are ok now and then (and are in fact required during battle threads), but you shouldn’t be having whole OOC conversations in RP threads. 3. Double Posting. There will be NO double posting in IC boards, there is an edit button for a reason. It is slightly more tolerable in OOC boards, depending on the situation, but keep it to a minimum. 4. Be Literate. Although we welcome beginners who are willing to challenge themselves and learn, we are a moderate to advanced RP site. Use proper grammar and spell check when you’re not sure how to spell something. Chat speak IC will not be tolerated, spell out your words. Each RP post you make should be AT LEAST 100 words. There is a word counter for a reason. However, quality is better than quantity, so as long as there is substance in your post, you shouldn't worry too much about trying to reach a thousand words. 5. Point Of View. Here at UW we will be roleplaying in THIRD PERSON ONLY. Third Person = He padded from his den and headed toward the freshkill pile, wondering what he was going to do today.Second Person = You padded from your den and headed toward the freshkill pile, wondering what you were going to do today. First Person = I padded from my den and headed toward the freshkill pile, wondering what I was going to do today.6. Godmodding and Powerplaying. This is not allowed. Your character is not all powerful and all knowing. You cannot control another person’s character (without their permission). However, there are certain circumstances where you may kill another character without the other player's express permission. For example, the Scavenger Boss Challenge, trying to fight past your cat's limits in a battle, and breaking Gang laws (and being caught) may all result in unwanted character death. By putting your character in these situations, you are giving up your ability to save your character from death. If you don't want your character to die, don't put them into these situations. 7. Fuzzy Time/Liquid Time. This is when you roleplay in a different time than what the current IC date is, and also when a single character is in more than one thread at a time. Most Roleplay should happen during the current season, but can take place at any point during the season (which is a three month time span, and a lot can happen in that time). Roleplaying in the past is acceptable, however, as long as you keep in mind what has not yet happened for you in those threads. Roleplaying in the future is not allowed. Your characters can be in as many threads at once as you want, just make sure they aren't in two threads happening at different locations during the same time period. 8. Thread Anatomy. Other than the body of your post, there are a couple different other fields to fill out when starting a thread that you should be aware of. 1. Subject: This is the thread title, the name of your thread, and what many consider the most dreaded part of starting a thread. But you should already be familiar with this field. 2. Status: This is the current status of your thread. It is required that you make use of this field for EVERY RP thread. Here you should put either OPEN (meaning anyone can join), TAGGED (meaning only people you have invited can join), CLOSED (meaning that you don't want anyone else joining a previously OPEN thread because you already have enough people; no thread should start off CLOSED), and COMPLETE (meaning the thread is over and needs to be archived). 3. Date: This is the IC date at which the thread takes place. This is also a required field for you to fill out. You should put either Early, Mid, or Late Season, Season being whatever Season the thread takes place in. This helps everyone involved in the thread to know what other threads have already happened at the time of this thread (and can therefore be referenced or not), and also helps mods organize the thread in the archives once it's completed. 4. Tags: If you have given the thread the TAGGED status, put the usernames of the people who have been invited to post in this field. You may also tag these people in your post, but this is an easy reference when looking through threads to see who is involved. This is obviously only required if you use the TAGGED status and should otherwise be left blank. 5. Notes: Anything else you want to make note of. Feel free to leave it blank.

Character Rules 1. Character Slots. You start with 5 free character slots as soon as you join. After you've made 5 characters, you cannot make any more until you earn or buy more slots. You earn another 5 free slots after reaching 100 posts, bringing your character slot total to 10. You may also buy up to 5 character slots from the Site Shop at any time. This being said, the maximum amount of characters you will ever be allowed to play at one time is 15. 2. Character Placement. You may not have more than 5 characters in a single Gang (for this purpose, rogues, loners, and kittypets all count as a Gang, the Non Gang if you will, so you may not have more than 5 of any combination of them at a time). This is to help prevent overpopulation of a Gang which leads to Gang bans. It's not fair if someone has 10 cats in a Gang and then the Gang goes on ban and newer members can't even get one character in that Gang. It's also more fun to RP your characters with more people, and if the whole Gang consists of 5 members hoarding them all, it's just not as fun! 3. No Mary-Sues. Or Gary-Stus for that matter. No perfect characters. Your character will not be good at everything, know everything, be undefeatable, etc. Your character will have flaws. Conversely, do not make a character as evil simply ‘because’, it isn’t at all realistic. People don’t just go ‘I think I’ll be evil from now on’ and do it, and they normally don’t identify themselves as evil either. Characters made as evil ‘just because’ and who actually think of themselves as evil tend to be very flat, dull, and predictable. Be original. 4. Traumatic Pasts. Keep this realistic and don’t go overboard if you are going to make a character with a traumatic past. Everyone seems to want to do it and it gets very old, very fast. Yes traumatic pasts do happen but not to everyone and their grandmother, and not every bad thing you can think of either. Just be aware that if you’re making a character with some sort of traumatic past you may be asked to change something if we think you’re taking it a little too far. That being said, the world of UW is not nearly as kind as that of the Warriors books, and cats dying young and being killed by rival Gangs is much more common. 5. Herb Knowledge. Most cats don't know the first thing about herbs and healing, and referencing that your non-Healer character has extensive knowledge of these things is not allowed. Non-Healer characters might possess some basic knowledge, but most cats don't pay much attention to such things if they aren't Healers. Rogues and Loners, who must take care of themselves, MAY be allowed to have more healing knowledge than the average Gang cat with a sufficient history explaining the source of their knowledge. More extensive herb and healing knowledge can be learned IC, or purchased from the site shop at character creation. 6. Special Powers/Abilities. Special 'Powers', as a rule, are completely forbidden. The only special 'power' that will ever be allowed is the ability to see and communicate with spirit cats, and that will only be as a special contest prize. Most cats on UW don't even believe in spirit cats (the Guardians are an exception). Special 'Abilities' that don't involve supernatural things may be allowed on occasion, but these would be things a cat spent a lot of time learning, and not something they magically learned overnight (such as being able to understand the language of another creature, like dogs or humans). Most kittypets have a decent knowledge of the human language by default. 7. StarClan/Spirit Cats. StarClan no longer exists, even the Guardians don't know of them, so please don't reference them anywhere. Spirit Cats exist, but the vast majority of cats don't believe in or even ever think about them. Your cat will become a spirit cat once they die, but they will no longer be playable. 8. NPCs. You are encouraged to reference and use NPCs (non-player characters, background characters not actually played by any member). Just make sure an NPC doesn't become the star of a thread, as they are there to enhance threads and move plot along, not become main characters. 9. New Characters. Your brand new Scavenger character is not actually brand new to the Scavengers (unless they are a newborn kit, anyway). Just because a character is new does not mean they don't know anyone in their Gang, that they just joined the Gang, or anything like that; your character is only assumed to have been a background NPC until you made them a main character in the story by providing them a biography. I have seen people play this out way too much and it's really obnoxious, so please for the love of all things DON'T DO THIS. Cats in the same Gang should know every member by name (except the Renegades, who don't spend a whole lot of time together, so not knowing every cat by name is acceptable there). 10. Appearance. Only natural fur colors are allowed. Eye colors are slightly more lenient, and even though it isn't genetically possible for all colored cats to have all possible eye colors, here at UW it is. Acceptable eye colors include: blue, green, yellow-green, yellow/amber/gold, orange, brown, and gray/silver. Special eye colors may be awarded as prizes for special contests. While you may have a very large or very small cat, they cannot be ridiculously so. 11. Special Ranked Characters. You may only play *one major leader, *one minor leader, and *one healer at a time, as they are quite limited and we want to give more people chances to play them. Major leaders consist of Bosses and Underbosses, as well as the Marauders' Heir. Minor leaders consist of the Renegades' Councilors and the Marauders' Consort and Captains. Healers, more obviously, consist of Healers and their Apprentices. If you play a healer and/or leader character, you must meet certain activity requirements with them or they will be removed from their position. Posting in the LOA board will not save your special ranked characters from being removed. I understand real life comes first, but I will not put a whole Gang on hold because their Boss's player suddenly has to disappear for 3 months. *Should more Gangs be created, this number may be raised.12. Special Ranked Character Activity. There will be monthly activity checks for Special Ranked Characters. You must make a minimum of 3 posts a month with Special Ranked Characters or you will get a strike on them. Once you reach 3 strikes, you will lose the rank, which may result in the character's death. However, all strikes are removed each time you meet the 3 post requirement. You may also receive strikes on your Boss and Healer characters if you are not performing the duties those ranks require within a week of receiving a request (unless you are on an LOA), such as assigning mentors and holding ceremonies for Bosses or healing threads for Healers. If you lose your special ranked character due to inactivity, Staff reserves the right to play them as an NPC until they can be properly replaced. By applying your character for a special rank, you agree to this condition.13. Restricted Traits. Some character traits, appearance or otherwise, are restricted for various reasons and will need to be purchased from the Site Shop. So please give the Site Shop a look over before you make a character to make sure you won't need to change anything because you've included a restricted trait. That being said, every member, upon joining, is allowed to claim one item from the shop priced 150 GS or below for free. This free welcome gift is not allowed to be gifted or sold to another member and is locked onto your account until you choose to use it.

Mating & Kit Rules 1. Thread Requirements. Characters must be in at least two different threads with each other before they can have kits. These threads do not have to be romantic in nature, and can include other characters as well. In order to count, each character must be posted at least 3 times in each thread. This applies every time a couple wishes to have kits, so for each litter, a couple must be in two more threads with each other. These Thread Requirements can be bypassed by purchasing a Thread Pass or NPC Mate from the Site Shop. * You may create cats that have a mate and kits already, but the above conditions must be met before they can have anymore kits after creation.2. NO GRAPHIC BREEDING. You absolutely may not roleplay out the actual act of breeding between two cats. If you are in a thread that gets to that point, you are required to fade to black, and may continue the thread after the act is finished. There is also no forced breeding (rape) allowed. All breedings must be consensual. 3. Pregnancy. A pregnant she-cat must remain pregnant for a full month real time and must be in at least one thread (with a minimum of 3 posts) while pregnant before she can have her kits. 4. Litter Requests. We have a Litter Request Board where you must post a request for a mod to fill whenever you want a character to have kits. You will find a form in the board to fill out. After you post, a mod will roll dice and respond with the number of kits you will have in your litter and the sexes of each kit. The mod will also roll for any disabilities and mutations that may be passed on. You may choose to have some of them be stillborn or die shortly after birth by various methods if you don't want the number you get, but you cannot change anything about the kits unless you have purchased an item from the shop to do so. 5. Genetics. Here at UW we honestly don't give a crap if you have two grey parents and want to have black and white and orange kits, it really doesn't affect anything at all, so keeping to appearance genetics is completely up to you. However, if the parents were born with any disabilities, like blindness or deafness, or mutations like polydactylism, heterochromia, or albinism, they have a chance to be passed on to their offspring. These will all be rolled for, even if both parents have the trait, and won't be guaranteed to pass on unless you buy the appropriate item from the shop to use on a kit. 6. Kit Growth. Kits are to be made as 1 moon old automatically after they are born. At 1 moon they are able to walk (though they will be quite clumsy until 2-3 moons) and are able to talk. They will age like any other character, gaining 3 moons to their age every season change. However, if they were born very close to a season change they will not age until the next season change. 7. Ranking She-Cats & Kits. Since I'm sure the question is bound to come up, she-cats of any rank are allowed to have kits so long as they are at least 12 moons old. In the Gangs there are no ranks forbidden from taking a mate or having kits. 8. Half-Gang Kits. Depending on the Gang, kits with a parent from outside their Gang might be treated differently, and the parent in the Gang might face punishment if found out (depending on the Boss at the time, though it is most likely to be punished in the Guardians), while other Gangs don't care about it at all and cats are free to take any mate they wish (such as in the Scavengers where such relationships are actually encouraged). Most Gangs might harbor some distrust for Half-Gang cats, which might make it harder for those cats to gain rank in the Gang, but not impossible. 9. Kits Out Of Camp. If your kit sneaks out of camp, the Event account MAY post in your thread with a predator finding them and either hurting them but they manage to escape (but will need medical treatment or they might die anyway), or killing them, based on a randomizer. The randomizer has a chance to allow your kit a safe journey as well (in which case Event will not post in your thread at all), so by all means have your kit sneak out, just know that you risk their death by doing so. Event will not post in your thread until 48 hours after it was posted, however, giving your kit's Gangmates time to find them and bring them home safely.

Trade Meeting Rules 1. The Gang Bosses will take turns creating the Trade Meeting Arrival thread, where each Gang arrives to the Trade Meeting.
2. Each Boss must post in the Trade Meeting Arrival thread before any other cat from their Gang may start making threads at the Trade Meeting. If the Boss is unable to post for whatever reason, the Underboss may lead the Gang to the Meeting instead. If neither of these cats is available to post, the Gang will simply not go to the Trade Meeting. The Gang Boss may also make the decision for their Gang not to go for any reason.
3. Only the Bosses should post in the Arrival thread. Bosses must post a list of all cats from their Gang that were invited to go to the meeting in this thread, which should include their Underboss, 1 Healer, and 5-10 Warriors. The Marauder Heir should also always be in attendance, though the Boss may choose to bring their Consort or not. At least one Renegade Councilor and 1 Marauder Captain should also attend. The Heir, Consort, Councilors, and Captains take up a Warrior Invitation Slot.
4. Apprentices, Queens, Kits, and Elders are not allowed to attend Trade Meetings.
5. Any fights that take place at a Trade Meeting may be punished by the cats' Bosses and the cats involved will be sent home from the Trade Meeting early.
6. Any Gang that plans an attack on another Gang, whether at the Meeting or taking advantage of their vulnerable base while they're away, will be subject to a No Trade Agreement for the duration of Winter, which will guarantee an unfavorable Event happens to them during the harshest season, such as starvation or sickness due to lack of food and herbs they could have gotten from trading.
